Prof. Aderemi A. Atayero, Head of the SmartCU research cluster and The Covenant University Professor of Communication Engineering with a PhD degree in Communication Engineering. Prof. AAA. Atayero has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Satellite Communication Systems. Engr. Atayero is a COREN Registered Engineer and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and other professional bodies. He has a number of scientific papers in International peer-reviewed journals and proceedings to his credit. Atayero is a recipient of various awards and scholarships including the ‘2009 Ford Foundation Teaching Innovation Award’. His current research interests are in various aspects of Communication Engineering, including (but not limited to): Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless (Mobile) Communications, Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities
Prof. Olayinka S. Ohunakin is an internationally recognized professor of energy systems. He is the Head, The Energy and Environment Research Group (TEERG), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Covenant University, Nigeria. He is an energy and environmental expert with vast knowledge in renewable energy technologies, energy informatics, distributed generation and hybrid grid systems, design and evaluation of low-carbon systems, energy modeling, climate modeling, cost-benefit analysis of renewable energy investments, energy efficient building simulations and designs, energy economics, and policies, with in-depth researches in energy conversion and management, energy efficiency and conservation techniques, conventional energy sources and power plants. He is a registered member of several professional bodies; he has written several articles widely published on energy in leading peer-reviewed ‘high impact’ journals cutting across Springer, Elsevier, Sage and Taylor & Francis publishers (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=jNzSObcAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao). He is currently serving in the capacity as a Guest Editor in Chief to a special issue of the International Journal of Photoenergy, and reviewer/editorial membership to numerous energy journals. He has also presented several positions papers in conferences and workshops both locally and internationally. He has been involved in several National Assignments for Nigeria at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC). Dr. Jonathan A. Odukoya, currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, Covenant University, is the National Coordinator of the Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa [ERNWACA] in Nigeria. He has Ph.D in Psychometrics. He worked with the West African Examinations Council in Lagos and Accra for eleven years. The exposure afforded him opportunity to serve as Consultant to organizations like UNICEF, UNESCO, IDRC and USAID. He is joyfully married and blessed with children
AGBOTINAME LUCKY IMOIZE is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He received B.Eng (Honours) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ambrose Alli University, Nigeria in 2008, and M.Sc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with specialization in Communication Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2012. Before joining the University of Lagos, he was a Lecturer at Bells University of Technology, Nigeria. He worked as a core network products manager at ZTE Corporation, Nigeria, from 2011-2012, and as a Network Switching Subsystem Engineer at Globacom Nigeria Limited from 2012-2017. He had internships with Voice of Nigeria Lagos, Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, and Julius Berger Nigeria PLC. Imoize was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship as a Visiting Research Scholar at the Wireless@VT Lab in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia VA, USA, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. R. Michael Buehrer from 2017-2018. He is currently a Research Scholar at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, under the Nigerian Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through the Nigerian-German Postgraduate Program. He is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) member. Imoize is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has co-edited one book and coauthored over 35 wireless communication papers in peer review Journals. His research interests are beyond 5G and 6G wireless communication.
Augustus Ehiremen Ibhaze received the B.Eng. (Honors) degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and the M.Sc. degree from the University of Lagos, Lagos both in electrical and electronics engineering. His Doctorate degree program is currently in an advanced stage covering the proposition of a novel signal conditioning scheme for high throughput applications relative to the emerging clustered, distributed, smart, IoT-enabled and data hungry communities. He is partly funded by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) under the grant award number P4567720076521527. He is a member of the IoT-enabled Smart and Connected Communities (SmartCU) Research Cluster of Covenant University under the supervision of Prof. AAA Atayero. He is also a lecturer with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Lagos, credited with quite a number of peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include wireless communications, visible light communications and the Internet of Things.
Simon Karanja Hinga is currently pursuing an M.Eng degree in Information and Communication Engineering at Covenant University. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Satellite Communication Engineering and a BSc degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with specialization in Communication Engineering. He is an International student at Covenant University under the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship. He is actively involved in research related to Path loss prediction modelling in South Western Nigeria.
Temitope Takpor is a Lecturer and PhD Student at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Covenant University, Nigeria. She obtained BEng in Computer Engineering from Covenant University (2008) and MSc in Communications Engineering from Durham University UK (2009). Her PhD research is on the Development of a Childbirth Cervical Dilation Assessment System Using Image Processing Techniques. The novel system is named BirthVisio. She is very passionate about applying advances in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Vision to improve the wellbeing of mother and child. Her research areas are – Biomedical Imaging & Image Processing, Computer Vision & Deep Learning, Engineering Innovation in Health, Maternal & Newborn Health, Medical Device Design & Prototyping, E-health, Wearables, Telemedicine, and IoT.
Temitope is a recipient of the African Biomedical Engineering Mobility (ABEM) Scholarship Programme 2019 to University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. She is one of the challenge grant winners of Computer Vision for Global Challenges (CV4GC) Workshop at Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) 2019. She is a member of IoT-Enabled Smart & Connected Communities (SmartCU) Cluster, and Advanced Signal Processing and Machine Intelligence Research (ASPMIR) Cluster at Covenant University. She is a member of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), IEEE Women in Engineering Society, The Computer Vision Foundation (CVF), International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
Emmanuel ADETIBA obtained a B.Eng. (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Ilorin in 2002. After his one year national youth service, he proceeded to Covenant University, Nigeria, to commence an academic career while studying concurrently towards a Masters degree (M.Eng.) in Electrical and Information Engineering (ICT option), which he completed in 2007. He obtained his Ph.D in Information and Communication Engineering (ICE) at the same University in January 2014. He is a member of several professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Institute of Information Technology Professionals, South Africa (IITPSA), etc. He is a registered engineer (R.Engr.) with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He has received several grants such as the Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa, Postdoctoral Fellowship Grant (2014-2016), DUT International Travel Grant (2016), South Africa National Research Foundation Knowledge Interchange Grant (NRF-KIC 2016), Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Research Grant (2014), IEEE EMBS Travel Grant (2012), Rockefeller/SAHIA Travel Grant (2010) and IMIA/HELINA Grant (2009). He has authored and co-authored about fifty scholarly articles some of which are indexed in ISI, Scopus and CPCI databases. His research interests include Machine Intelligence, Software Defined and Cognitive Radio as well as Biomedical Signal Processing. He is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria and an Honorary Research Associate at the Institute for Systems Science, Durban University of Technology, Durban, South Africa.
Joke Badejo received the B.Tech. degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, in 2003, the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degree from Covenant University, Nigeria in 2007 and 2015 respectively; all in Computer Engineering. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at Covenant University, Nigeria. During her Ph.D., she received the International Association for Pattern Recognition and MORPHO grant in 2012 for Biometrics training and was also a Visiting Student at Biomedical Signal Analysis Laboratory in Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA in 2015. Her research interests include Biometrics & Biomedical Image Analysis, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Software Engineering. She currently leads the Data Analytics team which support data-driven decision making in Covenant University. She is a member of a number of professional bodies such as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Joke enjoys being an academic and loves contributing impactful and cost-effective solutions to prevailing societal engineering problems in Africa.
Tiwalade Odu received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Computer Engineering from Covenant University, Nigeria in 2007 and 2012, respectively. She recently started her PhD (Computer Engineering) programme in Covenant University, Nigeria. Tiwalade is currently a Researcher & Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Covenant University, Nigeria. Her research interests are biometrics and image processing. She is a COREN Registered Engineer, a member of the NSE, IAENG & IEEE and a recipient of the IEEE Biometrics Council travel grant for the 9th IEEE International Summer School for Advanced Studies on Biometrics for Secure Authentication.
Abiodun Musa AIBINU (Ph.D.), is an “AcadoPreneur” and a highly-motivated career-driven achiever with over Twenty-Two (22) years of working experience in the field of: Mechatronics Engineering, Autotronics, Information, and Communication Technology (ICT), Telecommunication Engineering, Teaching, and Research. Presently a Professor and Head, Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Director, Centre of Open Distance and e-Learning, Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Nigeria. He is an advocate of Spiritual Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and AcadoPreneurship. AcadoPreneurship simply means turning academic ideas into businesses. Efforts are ongoing in turning some of his research outputs and that of other colleagues into start-up businesses at FUT Minna. In 2017, he was one of the recipients of the highly prestigious Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Research and Development award. Also, in 2019, he was honored with SERVICOM Excellence Award by Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria in recognition of his selfless services and contributions to the development of Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria and the country at large. Dr. Tolulope o. Adesina, is a faculty member, Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Covenant University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Electronics, as well as, M. Sc. and PhD degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Dr. Adesina is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has research interests in Machine Learning for Heterogeneous Wireless Networks, Cognitive 5G/B5G Cellular Networks, and Cognitive, Interoperable, Internet of Things. Dr. Adesina started his research leadership career in 2013, as the lead for a research project in Smart Farming, supported by a $3,000 grant from IBM USA (Students’ for a Smarter Planet Award). Currently, Dr. Adesina serves as a reviewer for a number of international conferences and journals including IEEE World Forum for IoT 2021 and IEEE Internet of Things Journal. He is equally a member of a number of standards development group, including; IEEE Dynamic SPectrum Access Networks-Standards Committee (DySPAN-SC) Working Group on Machine Learning for Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) and Spectrum Sharing Systems, and IEEE Dynamic SPectrum Access Networks-Standards Committee (DySPAN-SC) Working Group on Proposal for the Amendments to the IEEE 1900.1 Standard.
